The Possiblities Are Endless

Why Therapy?

Therapy is an effective way to help manage your mental health. People participate in psychotherapy — also called “talk therapy” — if they’re trying to deal with new or unexpected challenges in their life and chronic or long-standing issues.

Talk therapy can also be an essential part of treatment for mental health conditions.

Different types of therapy can offer different approaches to understanding human behavior, thought, and emotion, depending on your original intent.

I also provide EMDR Therapy which is an approach that discovers where your past is pushing up against your present and then uses eye movements to stimulate the brains natural healing abilities.

You may have your own unique needs and goals for talk therapy or another modality. I will work with you to find the best approach for you.

Because of the potential benefits of talk therapy, many people find their mental health improves, and they gain techniques to use in their daily life even after they stop going to therapy.

My Story

It's been quite a long, winding and twisting path that has led me to right here, right now, with you.  For much of my journey I have tried to figure things out on my own.  I want to share what I have learned along the road.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor I know your mind wants to be healthy and, with the right tools, will move toward greater health. In addition to talk therapy, I place a high value on psychoeducation, or providing information to help people understand what is going on in their brains and bodies when they feel anxious, depressed or stressed. Psychoeducation often helps you know that what you are experiencing may be normal reactions to events like loss, trauma, or developmental changes.

Sometimes we can get stuck in talk therapy. As a certified EMDR clinician, I can help you differentiate the sound of your intuition guiding you and a trauma misleading you.

Trauma comes in all shapes and sizes and how we respond to that trauma affects us and our loved ones.  Sometimes untreated trauma can result in unhealthy coping strategies that present as addictive behaviors, PTSD, Phobias, chronic illness, Generalized Anxiety, OCD, Depression, or Personality Disorders.

I don't believe in coincidence.  You've found me for a reason.  I am so glad you're here and now you don't have to figure everything out on your own.
